Growing up, oxtail was never an everyday meal. For a lot of families back home it was something you couldn't afford to buy all the time — it got cooked once in a while, for Sunday dinner, a celebration, or when you wanted to make something special.

It's a premium cut, and the price reflects the product, the preparation, the time and the quality — not just the meat on the plate. At 9 Mile we slow-cook it for hours until it's tender, rich and falling off the bone, then build it into dishes right across the menu.

Named after Nine Mile, St. Ann — Bob Marley's birthplace. It represents carrying the spirit of home wherever you go. That's what 9 Mile is: Jamaican at the core, international by nature, built in Toronto.

Chris and Sasha built 9 Mile from scratch — combining family recipes with the diversity of Toronto's food scene to create something completely their own.

Together they developed the entire menu — the 8-variety stuffed patties, the oxtail quesadillas, the Heavy Plate combos, the Lamb Box, the loaded mac & cheese. Sasha created the famous house patty sauce. Every dish is a collaboration, rooted in Jamaican flavour but inspired by the cultures around them.
